State Legislation
State legislation can lead to passing federal laws and each state has different insurance laws that need to be address

Rico Dence, the Founder and CEO of Up Cancer understood that making changes to existing laws could help advance cancer treatments available to patients by changing government legislation, but under the IRA 501c3 nonprofit rules and regulations was limited to 20 percent of time and 20 percent of funds used.  This could limit the scope of advocacy work, so Rico Dence created Team Up Cancer.

Team Up Cancer is an organization led and founded by Rico Dence, a Chronic Myeloid Leukemia survivor. Team Up Cancer goal is to advance cancer treatments available to patients by changing government legislation.
Thus far, Team Up Cancer is responsible for passing four separate laws into legislation. Today we’re spreading the message through a mixture of social media and good old-fashioned boots on the ground.
